It was ordered by a Non-public Dallas Collector at Sotheby’s New York Auction on 24th March 2004. Sale Quantity 7975, Lot No. 33.

Sotheby’s run a 2 times yearly auction of Southeast Asian Artwork & Antiquities in New York in the months of March and September.

The sculpture was described as: “Visnu standing in samapada, a few hands holding his pinpointing characteristics of conch, discus and mace, the fourth reduced in varada mudra, carrying an elaborately beaded waistband and a extended floral garland draped around his forearms extending to his knees, flanked on possibly side by attendant figures and animals.
